Tales of the Brownsville Spaceport
By Richard G. Bailey Sr. and Barbara Bailey
In the hush of twilight’s embrace,
Where the earth meets the vastness of space,
Brownsville dreams, beneath a silver shroud,
Whispers of stars call the brave and the proud.
Steel and concrete shaped by the sun,
Where ambition and journey have only begun,
An oasis where humanity’s hopes take flight,
A cradle of vision in the lap of night.
Falcons rise with fiery breath,
Chasing up echoes of life and of death,
Through the canvas of dreams, with rockets they paint,
Each blast of ignition, a hymn and a saint.
Children of stardust, in the mission we trust,
Bound by the shadows, bleeding adventure and rust,
Underneath the vast dome of infinite hue,
We orbit our fears, and write futures anew.
There’s laughter in the launchpad, thunder in the trail,
For every new failure, a thousand prevail,
The legacy of courage whispers through the air,
Each heartbeat a promise, each flight a prayer.
With South Texas winds kissing dreams on the wings,
Where the horizon dances, and the universe sings,
Here at the edge of the earth, brilliance ignites,
Tales of the Brownsville Spaceport, igniting the nights.
So let us gather ‘neath the glow of the stars,
And share in the wonders that travel from afar,
For in Brownsville’s heart, under skies vast and deep,
We voyage to galaxies—together, we leap.
